Courmayeur Freeride weekend

Discover MORE ultimate Freeride camp and escape in the heart of the Alps.

A weekend in Courmayeur Mont Blanc (Aosta Valley, Italy), a true gem for passionate freeriders and lovers of authentic cultural experiences.

A quite good fitness, together with previous freeride experience is required as we will be skiing in high altitude terrain, starting our first day, saturday 28th March at Punta Helbronner (3462 m). We'll get up there with the modern Skyway lift, bringing us up on top of Europe directly from Courmayeur village in few minutes. You'll have to be equipped with avalanche kit and glacier equipment.

On Sunday 29th March we will explore the more remote Val Ferret, not using any lifts but putting skins on our skis and touring up, so you should be comfortable with 1000 m d+.

Do not worry, our chef will have prepared a delicious lunch box that will push you to the end of our ski tour with no chance of getting a sugar crisis.

This isn’t just another ski weekend. The freeride will be guided by Suzane, an inspiring mountain guide, who, after summiting Nanga Parbat (8126 m), alone and without oxygen, sustained a four-toe amputation on her right foot; nonetheless she returned stronger than ever, working in the mountains as a Ski Patrol in winter and leading people up on the Matterhorn in summer. Of course, she is also back spending her holidays sport climbing around the world, with a customized climbing shoe.

I've been Suzi's physiotherapist, and I can tell you this woman has been truly inspiring for me and for many others. Often we get told we can not get back to our prior injury level of sport, well she confirmed that nothing is impossible when you have a strong willpower.

Suzane will entratain us with the story of her comeback to sport and work after her accident on Nanga Parbat, of course while tasting a glass of Petite Arvine from "Les Crêtes", one of the most iconic wineries in Italy’s Aosta Valley, representing the pure expression of mountain viticulture.

After a full day on the snow, I will lead a post-ski recovery session with a blend of gentle mobility exercises, stretches, and techniques to refresh the body and prevent injuries, together with the Optineck Balance Wedge.

The Optineck Balance Wedge is much more than a black roll... it allows you to work on your posture and re-bring balance in your upper and lower body, working on tensed muscles and stiff joints after a long day on skis. Plus, twist it upside down and suddenly it becomes the perfect tool to play with balance exercises and skiing technical drills.

The weekend is about more than skiing.

We will be staying at Fior di Roccia Mont Blanc Lodge, charming and secluded alpine lodge nestled in the heart of Val Veny, under the shadow of Mont Blanc. Originally built in 1893 and refurbished in 2022, the lodge blends historic character with modern comfort in a serene mountain setting.

Surrounded by woods and sweeping open fields, this hidden retreat offers total immersion in nature, far from noise and distractions.

In winter, you can reach the Zerotta ski lift in about 5 minutes on skis, making it an ideal base for freeride adventures—with the possibility to ski back to the lodge at the end of the day.

The lodge accommodates up to 7 guests across three unique bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. The ground floor features a cozy living room with a wood stove and a well-equipped kitchen perfect for shared meals and convivial evenings.
